Summit Fire in Marble Mountain Wilderness

Updated:
Northern California
Reopened

As of Friday July 18, the PCT is OPEN through the area impacted by the Summit Fire (part of the Marble Complex). The trail was previously closed between the Shelly Fork Trail (mile 1612.4) and the junction with Canyon Creek (mile 1625.3) in Marble Valley. The U.S. Forest Service asks hikers to pass through the area, stay on the trail, and do not camp within the previously closed section. Proceed with caution. If you choose to walk this section, please note that smoke may be visible. You will see evidence of the recent burn, including lingering areas of heat and snags adjacent to the trail and may encounter wildland fire fighters patrolling the area. Camping in Marble Valley is appropriate.
