Updated:
Northern California
Alert

The PCT within the Plumas NF & Lassen NF continue to experience post-wildfire impacts, such as dense brush and heavy blowdown. A majority of the challenging trail conditions exist from Quincy-LaPorte Road heading north to Highway 36 (mile 1237 to 1333). Known Trail Issues - south to north Bear Fire - Several hundred down trees exist on the south side of the Middle Fork of the Feather River on the Plumas National Forest. In addition, the north side of the Middle Fork of the Feather River is overgrown with brush and also has intense blowdown. Dixie Fire - The PCT in Upper Chips Creek drainage on the Lassen National Forest is unidentifiable due to severe blowdown and completely overgrown by brush (mile 1297 to 1300). Additional post-wildfire impacts exist traveling north to Highway 36. While the PCT is officially open, these are remote sections of trail with widespread trail issues - caution is advised if traveling through the area. A number of locations are available to exit the PCT and bypass the post-wildfire impacts (south to north) - Quincy LaPorte Road, Big Creek Road/Bucks Summit, Belden/Highway 70, and Highway 36. Please report what you see and take caution when traveling through burn areas.
